Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhall are tackling a romantic-comedy about, of all things, Viagra, and judging from the first trailer, the movie “Love and Other Drugs” will be a sexy romp.
Hathaway and Gyllenhall last appeared together in the Oscar-winning flim “Brokeback Mountain” and the exude great chemistry in thier latest production.
It also stars Hank Azaria, Oliver Platt, and George Segal.
Gyllenhaal, 29, plays traveling salesman Jamie Reidy, who works for pharmaceutical giant Pfizer, which developed the little blue pill that revolutionized sex, almost as much as birth control and Roe v. Wade.
Hathaway, 27, plays Maggie Murdock who suffers from Parkinsons disease. She meets Reidy who pretends to be a medical intern while visiting a doctor’s office.
Maggie is nothing if not a free spirit and refuses to let anything – or anyone – tie her down, until she meets her match in Reidy.
They embark on a relationship that take them both by surprise and which eventually turns into love.
The film is an adaptation of Jamie Reidy’s insider book “Hard Sell: The Evolution of a Viagra Salesman,” in which he recounts his experience as a salesman for Pfizer, when it was developing Viagra.
