Robert Pattinson and Dane DeHaan act out a famous scene from their new movie “Life,” about ’50s actor James Dean’s iconic photo shoot for Life magazine. The photos cemented Dean as an icon and symbol of the emerging Beat Generation.

The new clip was released today and features DeHaan as Dean walking through Times Square in New York City on a rainy day.

Dean’s overcoat collar is turned up and a cigarette dangles from his mouth. It is perhaps the most memorable photo of the Life spread.

Pattinson plays Life photographer Dennis Stock, who convinces the introverted actor to pose for the photos. The assignment becomes much more as Stock travels with Dean to his home in Indiana.

He sees a side of the actor that reveals the dark side of fame. They develop a friendship and Dean opens up to him for the photo shoot.

Dean died in a car accident shortly afterward and the photos became a testament to him and his impact on cinema.

The clip details how the famous Time Square photo came to be taken.

Ben Kingsley and Joel Edgerton play supporting roles in the Anton Corbijn-directed film.

The movie was screen in February at the Berlin Film Festival to mixed reviews. It hits theaters in the U.S. on Dec. 4.

Check out the clip below and the recently released UK trailer for the film. It debuts in Great Britain in September.
