Pattinson began dating Twigs, 28, a UK singer and performance artist in Sept. 2014. They became engaged last year.
Since then, tabloids have run countless, mostly made-up stories, about their relationship. Many have constantly injected ex-girlfriend Kristen Stewart into the mix, even though IM conclusively reported that they went their own way years ago.
From all appearances, Rob and Twigs are still going strong. But so far, all reports of their pending marriage have been wild speculation. Rob may have a change of heart, however, after shooting his latest film.
Helmed by French director Claire Denis, the film is about a group of convicts who are recruited for mission into deep space in search of new energy sources.
While on the mission, the male and female convicts are also required to engage in sex and reproduction experiments, according to new plot details unearthed by Screen Daily.
The convicts are told they’ll be free upon their return without fully realizing their trip is likely a one-way mission.
“The authorities have no intention of ever letting them return to earth. They want the inmates to procreate and raise a child in space as part of a larger experiment,” Producer Vincent Maraval told the site.
The film focuses on Pattinson’s character, Monte, a few years into the mission. He’s raising his daughter, Willow, alone on the empty space ship as it hurtles into deep space.
He was an unwilling father whose sperm is used to artificially inseminate a female convict as part of an experiment.
But over time, he develops a loving relationship with Willow that turns him from a hardened criminal into a doting father. He experiences real love for the first time in his life, according to the script.
In real life, Pattinson will turn 30 this year in May. Twigs, real name, Tahliah Barnett, turned 28 last month and is in her peak child-bearing years.
Dispite her avante garde music and performance style, Twigs said in a November interview that she is really very traditional and admitted wants to get married and have children.
Here’s what she told Paper magazine.
“I’m quite traditional. You know that saying, ‘You can take the girl out of the country but you can’t take the country out of the girl’? I grew up in Gloucestershire, and there’s a certain format that people fit into. I’m actually quite happy with the format. I’m quite happy to say, ‘Go to school, work hard on your GCSEs, do your A-Levels, get married, have children. Send your kids to a nice school. Make sure you’re in the right catchment area.’”
For his part, Rob said last August that he “definitely” has thought about having children, but has no set timetable.
“Sure I will have a child who is totally cool and confident,” he told German magazine Jolie. “He or she will probably look at me every day and think, ‘Why is this guy such a funny, quirky oddball?'”
Rob is no stranger to on-screen fatherhood. He last played a doting dad in the “Twilight” film series. His vampire character Edward Cullen marries human Bella Swan, played by Stewart, and they have a half-human, half-vampire child.
There wasn’t much interaction between them in the film. But this time out in “High Life” should prove to be different.
Then, let’s see what happens.
The film is expected to go into production this summer in Germany, and will likely hit theaters in 2017.
