Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp engaged in a steamy naked shower scene in their new movie “The Tourist” but apparently it won’t be in the theatrical version of the movie — over the protests of Depp’s partner Vanessa Paradis.
Depp’s long-time girlfriend, with whom he has two children, reportedly threw a fit over the scene, which featured Jolie and Depp in a naked embrace in the shower.
Last year, the French singer, 37, was so distressed over the script’s racy theme, she begged Depp to pull out of the project, but he’d already signed on for the role.
“She put pressure on Johnny and finally he said he wanted the shower scene out,” a source told London’s Daily Mail. “He told the producers it cheapened the movie, and I am assured that his wishes are being honored.”
Although if the scene was shot, it seems the damage was already done. Why cut it?
Depp, 47, plays American tourist Frank Taylor who seduces Interpol agent Cara Mason, played by Jolie, 35.
According to the script, a copy of which was reportedly obtained by Life & Style magazine, Taylor “lifts Cara against the glass, clutching at her slithery body, kissing her frantically.
“Cara later turns abruptly to Frank and presses her body against his. He’s taken by surprise but willingly responds. . . wrapping his arms around her.”
“Angelina comes with a reputation. She stole Brad Pitt from Jennifer Aniston when they were shooting ‘Mr & Mrs Smith’ together,” the source said.
“It would have been highly embarrassing for Vanessa. When Angelina learned he wanted it out, she wanted Johnny to reconsider, but he got his way,” the source said.
A spokesman for Sony Pictures was unaware the scene was cut.
The Tourist will hit theaters on Dec. 10.
