John Oliver slammed Trump administration bureaucrats who are gunning for regulations that prevent Internet Service Providers (ISPs) from restricting user access to services. Boring? Yes. Critically important? Definitely.

Oliver told his “Last Week Tonight” audience he thought the debate over so-called “net-neutrality” ended three years ago.

That’s when the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) made an important change in regulations to make it harder for ISPs to game the Internet for fun and profit.

But Donald Trump’s new FCC chairman, Ajit Pai is determined to re-write those rules. It just so happens, Pai worked previously for Verizon Communications, a major ISP with a dog in this fight.

“Ajit Pai was a Verizon lawyer and is still acting like Verizon lawyer,” Kevin Zeese, a protester told DCMediaGroup.

“He is not acting like someone who is working in the public interest.”

Pai unveiled his plans to reverse net neutrality last month. The new rules are expected to face an initial vote before the FCC on May 18.

Oliver wants to generate the same kind of public awareness about Pai’s plans as he did in a 2014 broadcast that went viral and led to the current rules.

Back then, the rush of commenters he spurred crashed the FCC’s site

This time around, the FCC has made it exceedingly difficult to comment online because it requires multiple steps on its Web site to get to the comment page.

So Oliver simplified that by creating the URl: www.gofccyourself.com It links directly to the comment page, bypassing all the intermediate steps.

Check out the video below to get the full scoop. And, check out Oliver’s Web site.
