Taylor Lautner flexed his budding star power in his debut on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live,” with an impressive opening skit that included some sharp martial arts moves and a spoof on his alleged relationship with country singer Taylor Swift.
In his opening monologue, Lautner, the co-star of the “Twilight” franchise and a champion martial artist, made fun of his rumored relationship with Swift by imagining what he should have done to stop rapper Kanye West from spoiling her MTV Video Music Awards moment.
I remember when SNL first started, I was negative 18 at the time,” he said to open his dialogue.
“And, I said to the other babies in heaven, just you wait, I’m going to host that show. ‘Oh, you’re going to be a comedian?’ No, I’m going to be a werewolf.”
Taylor noted his appearance in “New Moon” of course, to applause and poked fun over the fact that he appeared shirtless in the movie so many times.
“Too much in fact,” he said. “Even Matthew McConaughey told me to cool it,” he added. “You know we got a problem.”
Then, he took a moment to address rumors about a certain country singer; “Reba,” he said, apparently referring country singer Reba McEntire. “We’re just friends,” he said. “With benefits of course.”
But he saved the best for last when the monologue finally turned to Swift. Check out on the video.
Lautner as by now everyone knows, was the star of “New Moon,” the second film in the “Twilight” series, along with Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.
It debuted last month to huge popular reception even if critics thought the movie was so-so.
The next movie in the series “Eclipse” will be released this summer.
