Racy singer Christina Aguilera is riled about semi-naked photos of her that went viral on the Internet this week, and is blaming a hacker, who she claims stole the photos from her stylist.
But the career-challenged star could use a photo opportunity right about now, and as always in celebrity photo leaks of this kind, there’s the sneaky suspicion that the leak was accidentally on purpose.
Sure, her lawyer has threatened legal action and is supposedly actively searching for the perpetrators, but Aguilera’s legal recourse is limited and the public relations benefit has been huge.
The photos show her scantily clad and posing provocatively in her expansive walk-in, shoe-lined closet. But she looks no more provocative than her appearances in any number of her music videos or her new movie “Burlesque.”
Aguilera claims the photos were taken for her stylist and were never meant to be seen by the general public, although the poses don’t look like anything could be considered professional.
In one picture, Aguilera wears a see-through, white T-shirt and jeans, while in another she’s dressed in nude-coloured underwear and holds her robe partially open, displaying her stomach and pelvis.
Others show her in her underwear and an elaborate costume with nipple-covering ‘pasties’.
Christina, who turns 30 on Dec. 18, recently filed for divorce from husband Jordan Bratman.
She’d taken a hiatus from performing over the past two years to spend time with two-year-old son Max, and is attempting to jump-start her career.
But Bionic, her sixth and latest studio album released in June, has not been a big seller in the face of competition from Lady Gaga, Beyonce and other female artists. Rolling Stone magazine gave it two and a half stars out of a possible five.
Meanwhile, her foray into the movie business, with “Burlesque,” a song-and-dance extravaganza is about about a small-town girl trying to make it big is drawing mediocre reviews and a so-so box office.
