Reese Witherspoon is the latest Hollywood A-lister to give love another try. The Oscar-winning actress confirmed plans to wed Hollywood agent Jim Toth today (Dec. 28).
Witherspoon joins Natalie Portman, Ginnifer Goodwin, Leann Rimes and Playboy founder, Hugh Hefner, among celebrities who have announced engagements in the past few days.
She split from actor Jake Gyllenhaal only about a year ago, but apparently there was a lot of chemistry between the two.
Witherspoon, 34, rebounded into the arms of Toth, 40, in January, not long after she and Gyllenhaal called it quits.
The romance blossomed in a public display in March during a romantic birthday weekend in California. Ever since then, the two have become close.
This will be Witherspoon’s second marriage.
She was married to Ryan Phillippe for seven years. Their union ended in 2008, but not before producing two offspring, daughters Ava, 11, and Deacon, 7.
Apparently Toth’s route to Witherspoon’s heart was through her two children. Insiders told Us magazine that Toth “bonded” with Witherspoon’s kids.
He apparently even baby sat them in Los Angeles last fall while Witherspoon traveled to Vancouver, Canada to shoot her new movie “This Means War.”
She won a best actress Oscar for her role as June Carter Cash in “Walk The Line.”
In October, the “Legally Blonde” star’s rep told People they were “not engaged,” although Toth was said to be head over heels in love with Witherspoon.
The rep is singing a different tune now.
“They are extremely happy,” Witherspoon’s rep told Us.
“Ava and Deacon are happy with him,” a source added.
“She is definitely happy, in love and definitely wants to settle down,” the source said.
Apparently an engagement has been in the works for some time.
“My mom always texts me, like, ‘Are you getting married?'” Witherspoon recently told Entertainment Weekly.
“I’m like, ‘Mom, come on! You would know if I was getting married,'” she said.
Toth works as an agent at L.A.’s Creative Artists Agency.
He’s the Head of Motion Picture Talent at CAA, which represents Witherspoon, although agency partner Bryan Lourd reps her.
Toth, however, represents other young A-listers like Scarlett Johansson, Amber Heard, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Rachel Bilson and Kat Dennings.
