Amanda Seyfried is back in a new trailer as sexually amped up Red Riding Hood in a new movie that marks the return of “Twilight” director Catherine Hardwicke, who gives the fairy tale a dark, gothic and risqué twist.
The second trailer for the film was released today (Jan. 20).
Seyfried plays Valerie, also known as Red Riding Hood, a damsel who lives in a medieval village plagued by werewolves.
Shiloh Fernandez plays her brooding love interest and Gary Oldman plays werewolf hunter Father Solomon, who is searching for the beast that kills Valerie’s sister.
The werewolf, of course, takes human form during the day, and could be any one of them. Valerie suspects who it is.
Seyfried says she loves the tone of the film, and Hardwicke’s interpretation of the child’s tale.
“Red Riding Hood is a classic fairy tale that we all know, and what fans can expect from this version of the story is that it’s basically just a jumping-off point.
“Catherine Hardwicke has just completely turned this story into something edgy and gothic and dark, and she’s clearly somebody that’s very capable of turning something, everything into an extraordinary world, as we’ve seen before,” she adds.
“There’s a wolf at the center of the story, and it’s exciting ’cause it’s a whodunit,'” she adds.
“We had this freedom to go far with it, so whatever preconceptions the audience has, they should throw it out the door.”
The film is due to be released in March 2011.
