SATC Star Kim Cattrall: It's Hard to Stay Skinny When You're Older

Sex and the City star Kim Cattrall embraces getting older, but confesses that staying fit is a lot harder as you age.

“[I] exercise every day and drink eight cups of water, and it’s paid off at this time of my life,” Cattrall told reporters at an event announcing her new role as a rep for I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter.

Kim, 54, has worked out and watched her diet all her life, but confesses that staying thin is challenge as she gets older.

“It gets harder because parts of my body don’t want to be on a diet, but at the same time it gets me up in the morning to work out,” she says.

Cattrall says growing up with fitness icons such as Jane Fonda motivated her to stay in shape.

“This generation of women that I’m in, we have been brought up with Jane Fonda workout tapes and [the idea that] fresh air is good for you,” says Cattrall. “I’ve been dieting my whole life because I have a tremendous appetite.”

Kim, who was recently named a spokesmodel for Olay‘s anti-aging skincare campaign, makes an effort to look good, but it’s not to impress a man.

“I don’t do it for a guy. I do it for me,” she says. “It’s about taking care of yourself.”

Cattrall, who has dated on and off since divorcing husband Mark Levinson in 2003, is in no rush to get into a serious relationship.

“I am starting to date, but I’m just dipping my toes,” she says. “I think, especially at this point in my life, I feel pretty happy. I like who I’ve become and it’s changing always. I’m kind of embracing that.”
