Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett Smith sent out a hasty statement denying reports yesterday (Aug. 24) that they have separated, but they are far from a happy couple, according to new tabloid reports.
While one of Hollywood’s most high profile marriages teeters on the brink, the family has decided to take some time off and consider their options, according to gossip site TMZ.
A split in the near future is “definitely a possibility,” a purported friend told the site.
Yesterday, InTouch Weekly magazine reported that the couple had separated and were ending their near 14 year marriage.
But Will Smith denied the break up claims in a statement released by his publicist.
“Although we are reluctant to respond to these types of press reports, the rumors circulating about our relationship are completely false. We are still together, and our marriage is intact,” the statement said.
At the center of the speculation is an alleged affair between Jada and singer Marc Anthony, with whom she is co-starring her television show “Hawthorne.”
Anthony, who recently split from wife Jennifer Lopez, plays Smith’s love interest on the show.
“All the rumours regarding Marc Anthony, 42, and Jada are false. Completely untrue,” said Jada’s rep, Karynne Spencer.
“As for [the reports of a split between] Will and Jada, I’m not commenting on their personal life.”
Reps for the Latin Singer also issued a statement: “We unequivocally deny this. Enough is enough. There are families involved, children involved, friendships involved. This is NOT true,” it said.
Anthony and Lopez, his wife for seven years, have two children together, twins Emme and Max, three.
The smiths have two children together Jaden, 13, and Willow, ten, and Trey Smith, 18, Will Smith’s child from his first marriage
Trey tweeted today that divorce is not an option. “Will and Jada getting a DIVORCE .. NOT TRUE AT ALL !!” he wrote.
He later added: #Did #WillandJada split? No they did NOT split ! False information ..its not true RETWEET!!!’
