Julia Roberts and Lily Collins are doing a decidedly different take on the Brothers Grimm fairy tale “Snow White,” at least compared with Kristen Stewart’s version, judging by new photos released today.
Indeed, the battling films have such different looks and feels it will likely be possible to see both films and not feel like you’re watching the same picture. Both scheduled for release in 2012.
“Relativity’s Untitled Snow White,” as the Roberts, Collins film is currently called, will be an elaborate costume fantasy set a couple of hundred of years later then Stewart’s “Snow White and the Huntsman.”

Relativity looks more 16th or 17th century compared with Stewart’s thoroughly Medieval version, which is supposed to be a darker take on the fairy tale.
Stewart was recently photographed on the set in Wales wearing a suit of armor on a white steed, sloshing around in the wet sand of a stormy beach.
On thing is certain, Relativity Snow White Director Tarsem Singh is noted for his lush, visually striking film style.
Roberts is show as the evil queen wearing a scarlet dress with a mountainous gold headdress.
“[Roberts] is so absolutely breathtaking and majestic that you can’t take your eyes off of her, and her portrayal of the queen’s evil nature is utterly mesmerizing,” said Collins of her co-star.
The film also stars Broadway and screen star Nathan Lane and Armie Hammer as the handsome Prince Alcott.
Collins, the daughter of UK music icon Phil Collins, debuted in 2009′s “The Blind Side,” for which Sandra Bullock won an Oscar. She also stars opposite Taylor Lautner in “Abduction.”
She currently can be seen opposite Taylor Lautner in the thriller “Abduction,” but she says that playing the role of Snow White has been a wholly unique opportunity for her.
Most moviegoers will only have the classic Disney animated feature to go on when they watch these films. But both of these films will have much more edge.
The seven dwarfs are actually a band of roguish thieves.
