Kim Kardashian Slammed by Models for Selling Fur in Stores

Kim Kardashian: Real or Fake? Not her! The fur!

Katie Cleary and Joanna Krupa, both models and anti-fur activists, have launched a new campaign against Kim Kardashian. They want her to stop selling fur clothing at her Dash stores.

“As models and animal activists, we’re furious to see the Kardashians wearing fur and selling it in their DASH stores. People view them as fashion inspiration and role models, so they shouldn’t be supporting the cruel fur industry,” said Cleary in a statement.

The models began a petition drive on an online community organizing site Care2, hoping to get 10,000 signatures. But it’s not hard to tap into anti-Kardashian sentiment these days.

The petition blew by that number in first few days and now the models are shooting for a new goal, 50,000 signatures. You can see the petition at Care2’s petition site.

The group says it has more than 18 million active members, and says it is the largest online community of people in support of human rights, the environment, animal welfare and other causes.

“We’ve joined with them to help them promote the petition and over 40,000 Care2 members have signed the petition to get them to stop promoting the cruel and violent fur industry as ‘fashionable,'” Cleary said.

Cleary, 31, was raised by a single mother in Chicago and headed for Los Angeles to pursue modeling and acting after graduating from Carthage University with a degree in business and marketing, according to her bio. She was on season one of “America’s Next Top Model” and worked as a model on game show “Deal or No Deal.”

Krupa, 32, who was born in Poland, competed on season nine of “Dancing with the Stars” with pro partner Derek Hough. Maxim magazine named her the “Sexiest Swimsuit Model in the World.” She also posed naked in an anti-fur ad for PETA.

Ironically, Kardashian sister Khloe Kardashian, a DASH co-owner, also posed naked in PETA’s anti-fur campaign. The animal rights group, however, slammed Kim in a billboard campaign for wearing fur. It charges that the fur industry is cruel and inhumane to animals.
