Anna Torv is another import from down under who is quickly making her mark stateside in Fox’s hit show “Fringe.” She radiates as one of Esquire’s magazine’s “Women We Love,” and shares some priceless thoughts about life and love, plus some fab photos.
Torv, 31, plays FBI agent Olivia Dunham on the show. Her character is both a tough cop and a vulnerable woman. She is fearless and innocent, and has a penchant for finding evil where ever it lurks.
Like most Aussies, she is exceedingly down to earth and unpretentious.
‘Yeah, I guess I’m economical,” she says. “Not because I try, but because I’m really not that interested in shoes.”
And she notes, “It doesn’t cost anything to go to the beach.”
How sweet is that?
Torv plays an uncredited role in “The Pacific,” the new HBO drama about the U.S. Marines fighting the Japanese in World War II. She has a racy sex scene in the series.
“I don’t think anyone finds them easy,” she tells the magazine.
“It’s not that I’m embarrassed about my boobs. It’s just that some part of you really doesn’t want that out there. “At the same time, you want to get good at it.
“In the moment, what you’re really thinking is, ‘Shit, I need a mint.’”
Her paternal aunt is the writer, Anna Maria Torv Murdoch Mann, who was married for 31 years to billionaire media mogul Rupert Murdoch.
In December 2008, Anna married her “Fringe” co-star Mark Valley
“I don’t feel like I’ve hit my stride. So I wonder what the moment will be when I get to be who I want to be,” she says.
Whatever and wherever it is, let’s hope we’re there to see it, too.
