AnnaSophia Robb is finally stepping out of the shadow of the Disney Brat Pack–Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus and Vanessa Hudgens. The 19-year-old will debut on her own series, “The Carrie Diaries,” this month, which should give her the visibility she richly deserves.
Robb has a credible acting resume. She’s appeared in 16 films since debuting at age 11 in the TV movie “Samantha: An American Girl Holiday.”
She’s also appeared in such films as “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” “Bridge to Terabithia” (2007), “Race to Witch Mountain” (2009) and her standout role in “Soul Surfer” last year.
But she really hasn’t been recognized, or given credit yet, as one of young Hollywood’s up-and-coming actresses.
AnnaSophia Robb Quirky 60s Mod Style
All that should change, however, with her debut Jan. 14 as a young Carrie Bradshaw in a prequel to the hit HBO series “Sex and the City.”
Sarah Jessica Parker made the role famous by cavorting over eight seasons and through two feature-length films with girlfriends Kim Catrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon.
In the highly anticipate series, AnnaSophia will play a high-school aged Carrie just starting to find herself.
“They told me that I got the part because I did a little chicken dance at the end of my audition, after they asked me about my prom,” Robb tells Teen Vogue in is upcoming issue.
“I’ve got rhythm, but not the moves to go with it, and I guess they liked that I wasn’t afraid to be goofy,” she added.
AnnaSophia Robb First Look at CW’s Carrie Diaries
Working on a television show in New York City would seem to present endless opportunities, but Robb says it ain’t so.
“Everyone always says that guys are intimidated by me, but I seriously doubt it. I mean, I’m five-foot-nothing! I think I must make a stank face,” she says.
Somehow we doubt that. Check out her photos and be sure to follow TheImproper on Twitter for all the latest updates on AnnaSophia.
