Hemingway, 25, is the daughter of Mariel Hemingway, who also worked as a model and acted in several films. Her father was Stephen Crisman.
Mariel, now 51, is the daughter of Ernest Hemingway’s son, Jack Hemingway. She came of age in the ’70s, first as a model and later as an actress in such films as “Lipstick” in 1976 with late-sister Margaux Hemingway. She also appeared in Woody Allen’s classic 1979 film “Manhattan.”
Dree grew up in Idaho, a place her great-grandfather also frequented and oddly enough Ernest Hemingway Elementary School.

She debuted as a model for Givenchy in March 2009 in its fall/winter 09–10 show in Paris. Since then, she’s made a couple of big splashes in U.S. Vogue, considered the bible of the fashion industry.
In February, she appeared with models Jasmine Tookes, Max Snow, Poppy Delevingne, Tobias Sorensen, Tom Guinness and Vanessa Traina in a feature titled “Here Comes the Night.”
While Dree is obviously aware of the stature of her great-grandfather in the nation’s literary annals, she told Vanity Fair earlier this year, she never felt any pressure to pursue a similar career.
“I think the only thing, having that last name, that it’s easier to get in the door, but then you have to prove yourself,” she said. “We almost have to prove ourselves a little more to show that, no, no, no, this isn’t about my having my last name, I actually have a passion for this.”
Like her mom, she’s also exploring acting. She appeared in the 2011 French movie “Nous York” and starred in indie film “Starlet” last year.
