Lawrence, 23, was born and raised a country girl in Louisville, Kentucky, but she’s always had her eye on acting.
She traveled to New York City in search of an agent when she was just 14. Two indie films paved the way for her breakout, 2008’s “The Burning Plain” and “Winter’s Bone” in 2010.
She was nominated for an Academy Award, Golden Globe and a Screen Actor’s Guild Award for her role in the latter film.
Her starring role in the big summer blockbuster “The Hunger Games,” made her a household name.

But she finally won a Best Actress Oscar last year for her role as Tiffany Maxwell in the romantic comedy-drama, “Silver Linings Playbook.”
At five-feet, eight-inches tall she could easily find runway work in fashion, but her introduction to that world came later in her career. Although she says was offered a modeling contract soon after arriving in New York City, she turned it down.
Jennifer began showing a flare for fashion at red carpet events as she transitioned from teen to young woman. At the 2011 Critics’ Choice Movie Awards, she first exhibited a more mature style.
At the 2011 Oscars, still only 20 years old, Jennifer showed off her maturing sexuality in a hot red Calvin Klein dress that accentuated her sexy athleticism.
Despite her increasing fashion sophistication, Lawrence remains unusually candid and down-to-earth. “Your tape recorder is pointed at my vagina,” she promptly announces to a Harper’s Bazaar reporter as an interview got underway.
