Rachel Uchitel, the first alleged mistress outed in the Tiger Woods sex scandal, has spent much of her time since then dodging celebrity gossip reporters. Now, it seems, she is about to become one.
Uchitel is the second woman of questionable repute to have found a cushy job in the media.
Ashley Dupre, the call girl whose romps with New York Gov. Elliot Spitzer led to a major scandal, now works as a columnist for the New York Post.
Uchitel granted her first interview since rising to infamy last night to Mario Lopez on the TV gossip show “Extra.” She talked about herself, but because of “legal restrictions” declined to talk about Woods.
Her poise impressed producers so much that they offered her a special-correspondent job, reporting on nightlife hot spots.
Uchitel, a New York party girl and sometime VIP hostess, is well known on the club scene, both in Manhattan and the tony Hamptons.
She has a reputation for chasing celebrities, and allegedly became involved in a torrid affair with the golfer while he was married to Swedish model Elin Nordegren.
Although she professed love for Woods and claimed a special connection, she was one of a dozen or more women, mostly cocktail waitresses and porn stars, that Woods was having affairs with.
After the scandal broke, Uchitel hired feminist lawyer Gloria Allred, who reportedly negotiated a seven-figure confidentiality agreement with Woods. Uchitel reportedly saved text messages, voice mails and even recorded her telephone conversations with Woods and his wife.
Reports persisted, as the scandal developed, that Uchitel was still seeing Woods, but Allred denied any contact between the two after Woods smashed up his car the morning after Thanksgiving. He had reportedly been texting Uchitel that night.
Elin reportedly caught Tiger sending a text to Uchitel, which triggered the fight that led to the car crash and scandal.
Wonder if she’ll ever interview Tiger?
