Despite early reports of serious injuries, golfer Tiger Woods is in good condition after being involved in a one-car accident early Friday (Nov. 27). But the car crash leaves a lot of unanswered questions about Woods’ state of mind and his reason for leaving his house early in the morning. (See Map)
The accident occurred outside his Florida home. Police said the golfer suffered cuts on his face but the accident was not serious enough to deploy the car’s airbags. Woods has not issued a statement.
Woods, 33, was hospitalized after the crash, according to a news release from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. The crash is under investigation, the Highway Safety agency said, but at this time alcohol is not considered a factor.
Woods’ car reportedly slammed into a fire hydrant while pulling out of his driveway at about 2:25 a.m. local time and he also hit a neighbor’s tree, according to the Highway Safety release.
Woods’s wife, Elin, used a golf club to smash the back window of the vehicle and help get her husband out, according to an Associated Press report quoting Windermere, Florida, Police Chief Daniel Saylor.
The story, however, doesn’t add up.

This satellite view show's Tiger Woods' house (bottom). The hydrant and tree are on his neighbor's property (center house).
While Woods has been widely reported to live in the town of Windermere in Orange County, Fla., the town is only his mailing address. He actually lives in the nearby gated golf course community of Isleworth just outside the town limits. (See Map)
His house is fronted directly on the street across from the golf course. For the accident to have occurred as police said, Woods would have had to have driven out of his expansive driveway at a high-than-normal rate of speed.
Then, he would have had to have failed to negotiate a left turn onto the street on which his home is situated. The fire hydrant is not visible in the satellite photo, but was located at the end of his neighbor’s driveway, which is on the right of his house as viewed from the street.
If the accident wasn’t serious enough to deploy the car’s airbags, why was it necessary to free Woods through the back window?
What was his wife doing with the golf club in the first place at 2:25 in the morning? Woods lives in the expansive home with his wife and two children. Whether marital discord is a factor is unknown, but tabloid reports have claimed Woods was having an affair with a Hamptons party girl.
Celebrity Web site, TMZ.com, reported that Woods told a friend that his wife scratched his face during a heated argument about reports of him seeing another woman, and that when he stormed off, Nordegren followed with a golf club.
As he drove away, she supposedly struck the vehicle and he got distracted, ramming into a fire hydrant and tree.
Saylor said the officers who responded to the scene were not told of any argument, and a Highway Patrol representative said “we don’t believe it’s a domestic issue.”
In any event, the accident was “minor” and Woods was released in “good” condition, said Glenn Greenspan, the golfer’s spokesman, in an e-mail to Bloomberg, citing Health Central Hospital officials in Ocoee, Florida.
This season, Woods won six times in 17 events after undergoing reconstructive surgery on his left knee following his 2008 U.S. Open victory.
He also had three runner-up finishes among his 14 top-10s in a year, in which he failed to win one of golf’s four major titles for the first time in five years.
Woods last played two weeks ago, winning the Australian Masters in his first appearance in the country since 1998.
Woods is scheduled to play in the Chevron World Challenge in Thousand Oaks, California, next week. He’s hosting the tournament, which is not part of the U.S. PGA Tour’s regular season and attracts most of golf’s top players.

The problem with the people whose comments add up to “poor little Tiger” just goes to show how convoluted society is today. If someone commits a wrongdoing, especially against his wife, the people say, “OH, it’s OK.” Well, no, it’s not. And we all know it. Instead of making excuses for him, why don’t you allow him to see the full-fledged nature of his wrongdoing, and allow him his just punishments? He was WRONG and if it’s not slapped in his face, he’ll never resolve his sickness.
I think people should just give Tiger a break. Cheating on your partner is not right but he is not the first one to do it either. Celebrities do it all the time. So what is so different about Tiger’s situation? I feel people should just let him and his wife deal with their issues privately. Why make a mess of it? Respect their privacy. Also who are we to say the accident doesnt add up? If they say that’s what happened , then that is exactly what happened. Stop prying in people’s affairs.
he surely has dissapointed a lot of children that looks to him
I am a huge fan of Tiger Woods for every thing he has acomplished.I want to win as many LPGA tournaments as he has in his PGA carrer. Many people see Tiger Woods as one the greatest golfer in the world, but I’m for sure of the fact that he’s not PERFECT! No one on this planet is perfect. If he did, I personally do not think that it was right to cheat on his family or his wife. By no means though should he be harassed more than the average person that is out there right now being unfaithful to his own family that no one cares about. I can see why everyone is talking about him for ones he made a mistake just like any other person. And on the car accident subject it also to me does not add up, but sometimes you just have to learn how to trust people and give them their privacy.
OK so he cheats on his wife and family and then gets in a big fight with his wife over it and then crashes his new car into a fire hydrant and tree and passes out and the wife smashes the window with of all things a golf club of his. Now tell me this is not perfect Karma. He even cuts his upper and lower lips, and blood comes out of his mouth like the lies he told his wife. Or his cut lips he kissed his mistress (Rachel Uchitel) with. The Tiger is just a Cub to me now, not much of a man to two time his soul mate. Do we see divorce coming next? For SURE! He will hit another hole in one soon being such a superstar.
