Eighth Annual Beaches & Bays Gala, East Hampton

The Nature Conservancy’s Eighth Annual Beaches and Bays Gala was held on June 28th, 2008 at 127 Main Street in the heart of East Hampton. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres on the patio of the Karmely Estate – the historic former home of Robert Lion Gardiner – were followed by dinner, catered by Glorious Food. Music was provided by the Paul Richard’s Band of Hank Lane Productions. An after-party for the junior attendees followed in the courtyard lounge after the main event. Since 1951, the Nature Conservancy has protected more than 117 million acres of land and 5,000 miles of river worldwide. Ashley Alexandra Dupré (born Ashley Youmans) is 22 years old and lived in a downtown Manhattan apartment, like any other working girl her age. But she was far from ordinary. “I don’t want to be thought of as a monster,” Ashley told The New York Times. Haru Wall Street Grand Opening Party, With Rocky and Keiko Aoki

Rocky Aoki and wife Keiko were on hand for the grand opening party of Haru Wall Street, one of seven Haru restaurants in Aoki's sprawling Benihana restaurant chain. The company secured the lease for the 6,100-square-foot restaurant at One Wall Street Court in 2006, and pulled out all the stops for the official opening party. Downtown has become a magnet for restaurants following the influx of new residents and condo conversions.

The Palm West restaurant and General Manager Chris Gilman hosted a reception for Tony Noto, son of legendary “Fantasticks” producer Lore Noto, to celebrate the publication of his first novel, “The Stoker File,” the first new work based on Dracula-author Bram Stoker in 100 years. Playbill's Harry Haun, fellow-author Marc Eliot, music's May Pang and, Improper Magazine Editor & Publisher Keith Girard were among those who attended.
