Armani Courts Taylor Lautner for Menswear Line

taylor-lautnerAfter taking over the leading man duties from Robert Pattinson in “Twilight” sequel “New Moon,” Taylor Lautner is well on his way to becoming his own brand. He’s landed his own franchise movie role, hosted NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” and is reportedly now being wooed by Italian fashion house, Giorgio Armani.

If that’s true, he’ll follow in some impressive footsteps. Soccer superstar David Beckham and his wife Victoria have repped for the Italian fashion house in the past.

Armani is reportedly trying to sign Lautner, 17, for a new ad campaign for its A/X (Armani Exchange) menswear line and a new fragrance, an insider tells InTouch magazine.

“Giorgio has offered Taylor a deal rumored to be worth millions for the ads,” says the source. “Taylor is flattered and is really considering it.”

While Lautner’s reps have dismissed such talk, he fits the mold for an Armani spokesmodel.

Taylor gained 30 pounds to play shape-shifter Jacob Black in the “Twilight” series, and has become an international sex symbol since the original movie debuted in 2008.

“I went from a men’s small to a men’s large,” says Taylor, who plans to continue bulking up for the next sequels, “Eclipse” and “Breaking Dawn.” Both will be released next year.

In early December, Taylor added to his list of screen credits by signing on to play teen superhero Max Steel in an upcoming Paramount Pictures film. That, too, could produces a lucrative series of sequels.

In the movie, Lautner will play a 19-year-old extreme sports junkie who gets recruited by a secret agency after he gains superhuman powers through a bizarre accident.

Taylor has all the makings of an action/adventure star. During his SNL appearance, Lautner showed off some impressive martial arts moves, and he’s won numerous karate awards.

When he was 8 years old, Taylor represented the United States at the World Karate Association, where he won three gold medals and became the Junior World Forms and Weapons champion.

“New Moon,” which co-stars Pattinson, Kellan Lutz, Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed and Kristen Stewart, is in theaters now.
