Chris Pratt Reveals How Stunt Went Awry in Guardians of Galaxy 2 (watch!)

Most Actors Do Scenes for Their Ego, He Says

Chris Pratt, like many Hollywood actors, likes to do his own stunts when possible. But he told Seth Myers last night that on stunt in the upcoming “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” went horribly wrong. Don’t try it at home kids.

Pratt reprises his role as Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord. He’s the half-human, half-alien leader of the Guardians.

Peter was abducted from Earth as a child and raised by a group of alien thieves and smugglers called the Ravagers.

“It’s a really stunt-heavy movie, through the course of the whole film for everyone,” he said.

Although every precaution is taken, sometimes stunts can go awry.

“We were suspended from wires, we did a whole bunch of stunts,” he said. “I got my bell rung pretty, pretty good. One time got essentially knocked out.”

Pratt, 37, says his stunt days are coming to an end, largely because of his wife.

“‘You gotta stop doing that because stunt people are way better than me at it. I’m getting bumps and bruises and are lasting much longer.”

Plus, you’re kind of taking away a stuntman’s job.

“You always want to let the stunt people do them or their own version of it,” Chris explained.

“Usually when you do it, it’s for your own ego and they let you do that. Then the stunt person comes in and does it and that’s what they use in the movie.

“So it’s just another way for us actors to feed our egos, because there aren’t enough.”

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 premiered in Tokyo last month and hits U.S. theaters this weekend, May 5, in 3D and IMAX 3D.
