Lana Del Rey could be the next big breakout Hollywood star. At least she’s ready for her photo opportunity and maybe even screen writing career to begin. Hopefully she’ll get off to a better start than her music career.
Del Rey, 26, encountered a storm of criticism that she was manufactured and barely talented as a singer after a disastrous debut on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” in January. But she has undeniable star power and drop-dead model looks.
She’s making a huge splash in fashion and her singing career is flourishing despite the uproar among music critics.
Lana Del Rey’s ‘Retromania’ Style
Her languid and sensual videos and throw-back ’60s style has coined a new term, “retromania.”
‘When I was starting, I had a vision of being a writer for film and that’s what I am doing now. I’m so happy,” she told Vogue Australia in a new feature and photo spread. “Hopefully I will branch into film work and stay there. That will be my happy place. I’d like to stay in one place for a long time.”
Like Justin Bieber, Del Rey, real name Elizabeth Woolridge Grant, was an Internet sensation before she was signed by a record label. Now, she says she’s said about all she can in music. Her album, Born to Die, hit No. 1 in 11 countries and debuted at No. 2 on U.S. pop charts.
“I love to take care of the songs; that’s my natural place. Then, when I get on stage that’s not my element,” she told the magazine. “Sometimes I kneel down because I am trembling or touch the audience because I don’t know what else to do. But the nice thing about the kids is that they feel bad for me, and pass me soft toys!”
Del Rey is not known to have any film projects in the works. Check out her photos from the magazine above.
