Anna Kendrick and the cast of her latest film “Pitch Perfect” showcase their talent in a new video covering Nicki Minaj’s song “Starships.” They also invited members of the public to join in.
The movie also stars Brittany Snow, Skylar Astin, Anna Camp, Hana Mae Lee, Alexis Knapp and Ester Dean. All are featured in the video as well.
If the movie sounds a little “Glee” like, that’s because it is. It’s about an all-girls a cappella college group who remake themselves to compete in a championship against boy groups.
Kendra plays Becca, the new girl in the group, who wants to amp-up the music and give the girls a hipper sound, hence the plunge into Minaj’s repertoire.
The film is based on the non-fiction book by the same name by Mickey Rapkin a GQ magazine staffer, who spent a season covering competitive collegiate a cappella groups.
Members of the public submitted YouTube videos of themselves singing the song that were incorporated into the video.
