Bruno Mars Is Pure Grammy Gold With Sweep of Top Music Awards (video)

Bruno Mars was all about gold at this year’s, 60th Anniversary Grammy Awards. He swept the top categories. Kendrick Lamar and Chris Stapleton also cleaned up in a night of sweeps.

Lamar also picked up five prizes. “Humble” won Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song and Best Music Video, while his collaboration with Rihanna, “Loyalty,” was named Best Rap/Sung Performance.

His album Damn was named Best Rap Album.

Stapleton won Best Country Album for From a Room: Volume 1, Best Country Solo Performance for “Either Way” and Best Country Song for “Broken Halos.”

Mars, real name Peter Gene Hernandez, also won Best R&B Album, Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Single also for “That’s What I Like.”

In the non-televised awards, his album also took the Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical, award.

“All the music, the music business horror stories you see in the movies, we’ve been through all of it,” Mars told the audience.

“And this is the first time on this album that we all came collectively as a group and put this song together and put the album together.

So fellas, it is an honour to share this with you tonight. These are my brothers,” he added.

He was referring to his crew, co-writers Christopher Brody Brown, James Fauntleroy, Philip Lawrence, Ray Charles McCullough II, Jeremy Reeves, Ray Romulus and Jonathan Yip.

“I’ve known these guys for over a decade,” he said.

In other awards, Ed Sheeran, who was a no-show, one Best Pop Solo Performance for “Shape of You” and Best Pop Vocal album for Divide

The Weeknd, Childish Gambino and Little Big Town also won awards

Alesia Cara was named Best New Artist and was the only female artist to win a top category.
