Selena Gomez was under the spotlight in more ways than one at last night’s MTV EMAs, not only facing the heavy-duty task of emceeing the show, but also facing down rumors boyfriend Justin Bieber fathered a child.
Justin was also there for the show, and Selena stood by her man after he forcefully denied allegations that he had a backstage tryst with 20-year-old Mariah Yeater.
Yeater claims in a lawsuit that Bieber fathered her three-month-old son and is seeking a court-ordered paternity test to establish whether he is the father.

Gossip Web site radaronline, which has been trumpeting the story broken by sister publication The Star reported that Gomez had dumped Bieber over the scandal.
But the story was quickly denied by both camps. If there was a rift between the two it wasn’t apparent last night.
They appeared on stage at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast for EMAs when Justin 17, won for best male performer.
The couple did not appear the together on the carpet, thus avoiding embarrassing questions, but they were spotted together holding hands Saturday night.
They attended a dinner for the MTV Voices Award, which Justin received during the show.
Selena proved she was a trouper, performing her role with lots of flair and charisma.
She opened the show standing in a ring of fire, which could have been an apt metaphor for the sex scandal surrounding her.
She wore a tiny purple sequin jump suit and knee-high black boots, to perform her song “Hit the Lights.”
