Weinstein reporting told London’s Sun newspaper that Lawrence was taking a break from films for a year.
But the London tabloid is notorious for taking quotes out of context or shading them to sensationalize what’s been said.
As such, Weinstein likely never presumed to speak for Lawrence when he said she was taking off for a whole year. He was more likely saying she should take off.
Then again, he’s known for overstatement.
Lawrence, 23, has been concentrating on filming the “Hunger Games,” Suzanne Collins’ trilogy about a dystopian society where teens from 12 different districts must fight to the death each year to satiate an iron-fisted dictatorship that rules the country.
On the side, she’s also appeared in two David O. Russell films, “Silver Linings Playbook” and “American Hustle.” Both have resulted in Academy Award nominations. She won Best Actress for the former last year and is up this year for best support actress.
She’s currently filming “Hunger Games: Mockingjay 2,” the last film in that series. She recently wrapped shooting on part 1.
She also recently finished a film entitled “Serena.” The drama, set in Depression-era North Carolina teams her up once again with Bradley Cooper, with whom she starred in both “Silver Linings” and “American Hustle.”
Her other movie, “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” has moved into post-production, but she’s still scheduled to appear in a cameo role in the sequel to “Dumb and Dumber 2.”
Lawrence is also reportedly gearing up to make another movie with David O. Russell. She would play Joy Mangano, a Long Island single mother who invented the Miracle Mop, according to deadline.com, a usually reliable source.
Lawrence has also been working on a new campaign for Miss Dior, a fashion brand that she’s repped for the past three seasons.
As for Weinstein, he reportedly said: “She’s going to have a long break for a year where she won’t do anything. It’s been non-stop for her and she deserves a rest.”
Lawrence may well be itching to take a rest. But she’s also hooked on juicy parts and if a hot script comes her way, she’s likely to cut her hiatus short.
One thing is certain, however, she adamant about speaking for herself. Don’t be surprised if Weinstein says he was quoted out of context. To stay abreast of the latest updates on this story, follow TheImproper on Twitter, or subscribe to our free email newsletter.
