Miley Cyrus stars in her first high-fashion campaign for Marc Jacobs. Is the extension of her brand a hit or miss?

Miley Cyrus has the supermodel pout down to perfection in her first high-fashion shoot for Marc Jacobs. But the sullen campaign smacks of “Edward Scissorhands” or “Dark Shadows.” Does that make it a hit, or miss?

Marc Jacobs stylist Katie Grand set up the shoot, photographed by David Sims.

The scenes, on a desolate beach, definitely seem to capture the mood of the goth-inspired clothes. But Grand had to be subconsciously channeling Johnny Depp to come up with the theme.

Depp starred as the lead character in the 1990, Tim Burton-Directed film, “Edward Scissorhands.”

He also played vampire Barnabas Collins in another Burton collaboration, the campy 2012 film “Dark Shadows.”

There’s even a hint of “Pirates of the Caribbean.” Miley and crew look like 18th-Century wenches, staring out at a tempest-tossed sea, waiting for their men to come home on their tall ship.

Miley is joined for the shoot by Natalie Westling and Esmerelda Seay Reynolds. Turns out Miley, at 21, is the old lady in the group.

Westling, 17, is a fashion newbie and one of the industry’s hottest rising models. Same goes for Esmerelda. She’s only 16, but already setting runways on fire in fashion capitals.

In any event, darkness and brooding are the overall themes for the fashion brand’s decidedly Gothic inspired clothes in black and dark hues.
