Scarlett Johansson knows a tar-baby when she sees one. She tries to distance herself from the Woody Allen child abuse scandal in a new interview, but in the process issued a stinging rebuke to Allen’s step-daughter Dylan Farrow.

Johannson, 29, took particular umbrage with Farrow for calling her out in an explosive New York Times column about the allegations.

“What if it had been your child, Cate Blanchett? Louis CK? Alec Baldwin? What if it had been you, Emma Stone? Or you, Scarlett Johansson?” Farrow wrote.

Johansson seems oblivious to Farrow’s deep hurt and sense of betrayal. Instead, her concern is for the actors whom Farrow dragged into the scandal.

“I think it’s irresponsible to take a bunch of actors that will have a Google alert on and to suddenly throw their name into a situation that none of us could possibly knowingly comment on,” she said in the interview with the UK’s Guardian newspaper.

That just feels irresponsible to me,” she said.

Johansson and Allen have had a long relationship. After starring her in three of his films, “Match Point, Scoop, and Vicky Cristina Barcelona,” he called her “not just a passing pinup girl, but a genuinely meaningful actress.”

She returned the favor, saying she would “sew the hems of his pants if he asked me to.”

She also refuses to think ill of him as a result of the scandal. “I’m unaware that there’s been a backlash,” she says.

“I think he’ll continue to know what he knows about the situation, and I’m sure the other people involved have their own experience with it.

“It’s not like this is somebody that’s been prosecuted and found guilty of something, and you can then go, ‘I don’t support this lifestyle or whatever.’ I mean, it’s all guesswork.”

Johansson, who is reportedly pregnant, may have a different opinion once her child is born and she experiences, first hand, the powerful bond between mother and child.

Maybe then she’ll understand where Dylan is coming from.
