Kate herself seemed to scotch the rumors by drinking a glass of pinot gris today (Apr. 13).
She didn’t drink during her pregnancy with Prince George, the couple’s eight-month-old baby boy.
The Duke and Duchess are continuing their tour of Australia and New Zealand, which has been closely watched by the media.
During one stop in Cambridge, New Zealand, Friday, April 11, Will met Cynthia Read, a local resident who had made a wool shawl for Prince George, at the request of the New Zealand government.
“You might have to make another one soon,” Prince William said laughingly.
Read added fuel to the fire when she told reporters later: “The way William said it was like he was dropping a hint, letting me in on a secret.”
And what a secret, if true.
Tabloids like USWeekly were quick to jump the gun. The magazine reported that Kate had no signs of a bump but avoided alcohol at the unveiling of Queen Elizabeth II’s portrait at Government House on Thursday, (Apr. 10).
But the report was sketchy. Kate was photographed drinking out of a wine glass at the event, although one report said the glass held water.
Today (Apr. 13) Kate, 32, and William visited the Otago Wines at the Amisfield winery in Queenstown and Kate left no doubt about the rumors. She readily sampled its wares
She’s not considered a big drinker, however and only took small sips.
Kate told wine-makers at a local vineyard she “was really enjoying being able to drink again after having baby George,” according to London’s Daily Mail.
Kate sampled glasses of Aurum pinot gris and Remarkable dry Riesling, according to the report.
