If the report is true, it’s contrary to everything the “Twilight” hunk has ever said in recent interviews and contrary to his own behavior.
In fact, Pattinson, 27, spent four years in one relationship with Kristen Stewart and was loyal to the end. If anything, he doesn’t want to play the field.
Otherwise, why would he just remain “friends” with some of the most eligible women in Hollywood like Katy Perry and Dylan Penn?
If he was interested in “random hookups” those two would undoubtedly be high on his list. But he isn’t, contrary to a new report in gossip site HollywoodLife.
The Web site, which was recently claiming that Pattinson was hooking up with Stewart again, now reports that Rob “isn’t pursuing anything more than random hookups.”
The information, of course, comes from yet another anonymous source who is “close to the actor.” No one who is really “close to the actor,” would talk to a gossip site like HollywoodLife about intimate details involving someone who guards his privacy like Rob does.
So right off the bat, the claim is sketchy. The quotes, which won’t be repeated here, are so generic anyone they could apply to anyone.
One of Rob’s most candid comments on the subject came while he was promoting his movie “Water for Elephants” in 2011.
He revealed in an interview with German magazine Bravo that he puts a “very high premium” on love and could never fall in love with a friend.
Rob was asked specifically whether he could fall in love with a friend. “No. Not at all,” he replied.
“I don’t think that friendship can turn into a great love. Because one of the two feels different,” he explained.
Another factor weighing against “random hookups” is Rob’s self-professed respect for women.
“I grew up with two older sisters, and I have a great respect for women,” he said in another interview in the Italian magazine Style.
In fact, Rob stated pretty clearly he wasn’t into random sex.
“There is the idea of saving love: I believe it. I’m not mushy but I have a romantic soul. Having grown up with two older sisters I have a deep respect for women. Sex and feeling for me go hand in hand,” he said.
“This is me, just me. I’m not interested in casual relationships, I need to know people. I’m not making an existential statement here: simply, I want a family, with two or three kids…”
So do you believe the latest claim by a sketchy tabloid that he’s only interested in “random hookups?” Or is this just another link-bait story to exploit Pattinson fans for pageviews?
