This week Selena Gomez unfollowed the sisters on her Instagram account after spending a weekend with them at the Coachella Music Festival.
Selena has been overhauling her professional life and now has begun to re-examine her personal life to rid herself of “negative influences,” according to a number of reports.
Kendall and Kylie both support Kim, but at the same time they thought they weren’t perceived as part of the Kardashian circus, led by momager Kris Jenner and half-sisters Khloe Kardashian and Kourtney Kardashian.
Still they suffer from the same problem. While Kendall is building a legitimate modeling career, Kylie is still basically famous for being famous.
Both sisters also seemed to value themselves based on the celebrity friends they collect, and are said to be devastated by the snub, according to a source.
Selena was the first major star to pal around with them, giving the girls both visibility and credibility at Coachella. In contrast, many significant Hollywood stars have shunned their half-sisters, some of them pointedly.
Actors John Hamm, Jeremy Renner, Emma Watson, Daniel Craig and Kristen Stewart have openly expressed their disdain for Kim and her family.
Kim was profoundly dissed two years ago when a rep for the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce said the reality personality would never qualify for a star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame.
They “spend their lives making sure everyone knows their name,” Renner said, calling them “stupid, stupid people.”
“Twilight” actress Stewart was particularly harsh on Kardashian, Paris Hilton and others for using sex tapes to become famous, calling them “not honest.”
Craig went so far as to call them “f*cking [idiots]… who get paid millions of dollars to make spectacles of themselves.”
“The fact that the Kardashians could be more popular than a show like ‘Mad Men’ is disgusting. It’s super disgusting to be a part of that culture,” actor Jonah Hill told The Huffington Post in a 2011 interview.
As much as they try to avoid it, Kendall and Kylie are vulnerable to the same criticism as Kim. They might want to rethink who they are as well.
