Brickell, 48, more than 24 years Simon’s junior, shot to stardom in 1988 with her group Edie Brickell & New Bohemians.
She met Simon the same year when they were both appearing on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.” They married in 1992 and have three children together.
Details about the domestic dispute are sketchy, but Simon, 72, and his wife were both arrested and charged with disorderly conduct,” according to gossip site TMZ.
According to police the couple were engaged in a “heated domestic dispute” at their New Canaan, Conn. home. Police were summoned to the house around 8pm Saturday night (Apr. 26)
Typically, when both parties are arrested and charged some physical violence is involved. No reason yet what sparked the dispute.
The couple is expected to be arraigned on Monday afternoon on charges stemming from an incident, according to bostom.com. Brickell and Simon have been married since 1992.
Simon and Art Garfunkel were leaders of the folk-rock movement in music during the 1960s, with such songs as “The Sound of Silence,” “Mrs. Robinson,” and “Bridge Over Troubled Water.”
The split up suddenly in 1970 and the two feuded bitterly for years, although the have re-united from time to time. Simon has also had a hugely successful solo career as a guitarist and singer-songwriter. He’s won 12 Grammy awards.
