Although the film will have the sweep of a major war movie, it’s actually a character study of five men who share extraordinary hardships on the battlefield.
The sneak peek of a behind-the-scenes look at filming was released yesterday (June 10) at the E3 Convention in Los Angeles. (Look for a tie-in video game.) It contains the first footage from the movie.
The picture is set in the closing days of the war. The allies are deep inside Germany and the enemy is making a last-ditch stand to stop the advance on Berlin.
It’s clear from the footage that the movie is pulling out all the stops to be as realistic as possible. The tankers slog through mud, ruined villages and fierce fighting, wondering whether than can survive another day.
There’s nothing worse than being a short-timer, After all that fighting, the last days of combat are always the hardest.
“Fury,” directed and written by David Ayer, rips into theaters Nov. 14.
