Jenny Lewis, the actress turned singer, enlists some high-powered Hollywood friends, namely Kristen Stewart and Anne Hathaway, to appear in her new “Just one of the Guys” video as her faux backing band. The girls also double as men in drag.
Lewis’s acting career goes back to 1983 when she voiced a character in a “Peanuts” cartoon television movie.
Her first on-screen role was in “The Twilight Zone” segment “If She Dies” in 1985.
She also appeared in a dozen other films, including 1998’s “Pleasantville,” co-starring Tobey Maguire, Jeff Daniels, William H. Macy, J. T. Walsh, Reese Witherspoon and the late Paul Walker.
She formed a band the same year, Rilo Kiley, that varied between a country and indie rock sound. She debuted as a solo act in 2004 and released her first solo album Rabbit Fur Coat in 2006.
Her second solo album Acid Tongue was released in 2008. Riley Kiley broke up in 2011.
“Just One of the Guys” is the lead single off her third album “The Voyager.” It drops on July 29.
In the video, Stewart, Hathaway and actress Brie Larson, play Lewis’s faux backing band. No, they aren’t really playing.
During the chorus band members appear in drag. Do they make convincing men?
