Lively, 26, is best known for her role in the little watched but highly acclaimed series “Gossip Girl,” which aired for six seasons (2007-2012) on the CW.
Her recent films like “Green Lantern,” “Accepted” and “Savages,” have largely been underwhelming, but she is effortlessly beautiful and captivating in front of a camera, or on the red carpet.
But beauty will get you everywhere and she is already a fashion icon. She’s repping for such brands as Gucci and L’Oreal Paris.
She poses in Vogue for Mario Testino amid the rugged majesty of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, known for its stunning landscape and expansive celebrity redoubts.
She’s often cited Martha Stewart and Nigella Lawson, the English gourmet food writer, as her inspirations. So it only stands to reason that the digital world would be her next frontier.
But she’s quick to point out, she’s no Gwyn, she tells the magazine.
Her Web site, Preserve, is “not trying to show you the perfect life or the aspirational life,” she says.
“It’s not about me. And it’s not about watching my journey of learning how-to; it’s about me sharing that with you so we all sort of learn together.”
Right, but really, what is it about?
Well, as the magazine explains, “it’s part digital monthly magazine, part e-commerce venture, part video blog.”
“The site will seek out and celebrate people all over America who are making things—food, clothes, pillows, dishes, dining-room tables—with their hands.”
Husband Ryan Reynolds, whom she met on the set of “Green Lantern,” will also be involved, kinda, sorta.
“He’s a part of it because everything we do in life we do together,” says Lively. “He’s got a great barometer and he knows me, so he will tell me if it’s not as good as it can be.”
But mostly, it will be an expression of Blake, the “celebrity homemaker.” We’re sure she’ll make it look effortless.
