Jessica Alba, Hollywood’s good girl sex siren, appears hellbent on jump-starting her career with a series of provocatively dressed appearances and photo spreads over the past several weeks in anticipation of her new movie.
Alba, 33, is currently promoting “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For,” one of five films she’s in, or working on, this year.
She reprises her role from the 2005 original “Frank Miller’s Sin City,” where she played an exotic dancer working at Kadie’s Bar.
A lot has happened since then. She married long-time boyfriend Cash Warren in 2008 and they had two children together: Honor Marie Warren, born 2008, and Haven Garner Warren, born in 2011.
After her second child, she scaled back her work. For the past three years, she’s only appeared in one film a year, although she also voiced a film in 2013.
Her appearance in the 2013 film “Machete Kills” was uncredited. It was a follow-up to the 2010 film “Machete,” in which she appeared to do a nude scene. It was later revealed that the scene was faked. Her bra and panties were digitally removed.
At the time, Jessica insisted she was shy and insecure and was adamant about never appearing nude in a movie scene.
But now that she is on a career comeback, she seems more willing to let her stunning sexuality show through.
In her latest spread in lad magazine Maxim, she says she’s managed to overcome her intense shyness and is now comfortable with her body.
“Everything that led up to all of this was worth it. I’m really comfortable in my own skin. And I’m not apologizing for myself,” she explained.
“I definitely feel like I tackled something and came out the other side.”
She also appeared in a racy photo spread for British GQ magazine and her daring appearance at Comic-Con in San Diego.
Her journey to self-worth is neatly tied to her career resurgence. Beside “Sin City,” she’s also appearing in four other films.
“Dear Eleanor” and “Barely Lethal” are in post-production, and “How to Make Love Like an Englishman” and “Stretch” are filming.
In the cruel calculus of Hollywood, most women find roles increasingly difficult to get after they turn 30. But Jessica shouldn’t have the problem for some time to come.
