Kristen Stewart has gone from media darling to media punching bag because of her cheating scandal two years ago and she’s definitely been scarred by it. She expresses contempt for both the public and paparazzi in a new interview with Elle magazine.
Stewart, 24, tells the magazine she feels like she’s being targeted by the media.
And no wonder. She exploded the myth of “Twilight,” the film series that brought her fame and fortune. She cheated on her so-called true love Robert Pattinson before the final film even hit theaters.
Forget the fact that her paramour, “Snow White and the Huntsman” Director Rupert Sanders, is nearly twice her age; Sanders was also married to model Liberty Ross and had two children.
Their divorce recently became final this year, officially making Kristen a homewrecker. Even in Hollywood, that kind of behavior draws scorn.
But it’s true. The paparazzi have been rude and unkind to her, and she’s angered at least half the “Twilight” fans for cuckolding Rob.
Except for a brief expression of remorse after the scandal was revealed in the most tawdry way possible, a tabloid exposé, she’s defiantly moved on… almost.
She feels there’s no way she can win the game of public perception.
“I feel like if I smiled for a paparazzi photo — not that I ever would — that’s exactly what people would be desecrating me for,” she tells the magazine.
“They’d be like, ‘now you’re going to give it up, now you’re a sellout.’ Like, okay, What do you want? What would you like?”
Being accused of selling out seems to be the least of her problems. Keeping her career on track would seem to be the top priority.
The sequel to her last big film, “Snow White,” was announce last week, and guess who didn’t make the cut?
The film will actually be a prequel focusing on Chris Hemsworth as the Huntsman and Charlize Theron who played the wicked queen.
But Stewart seems adamant about winging it.
“Never at any point have I sat down and plotted how I should proceed from here on,” she says.
“As soon as you start thinking about your career as a trajectory — like, as if you’re going to miss out on some wave or momentum — then you’re never doing anything for yourself anyway.”
“Then you’re truly, actually, specifically working for the public. You’re turning yourself into a bag of chips.”
