Taylor Swift looked more like a Broadway showgirl than a country music princess at the MTV Video Music Awards last night. She sang her new song “Shake It Off” which is the first single off her upcoming, purely pop album 1989.
Although Swift has always been considered a country artists many of her songs have been cross-over pop hits.
So, it seems like it was only a matter of time before she became a full-fledged pop artist. There was not even a hit of the country girl in her act last night.
On stage, she wore frilly chrome go-go girl hot pants and a matching crop top that flashed some impressive cleavage. She surrounded herself with male dancers in tuxedos.
At one point in the performance, Swift climbed atop a huge logo for her upcoming album and feigned like she was going to jump into the arms of her beefy male dancers below.
But she took one look over the edge and changed her mind.
“One second. I don’t care if it’s the VMAs. I’m not jumping off there,” she said. “It’s all kinds of people getting bitten by snakes. Dangerous.”
She disappeared and emerged a few seconds later back on stage and continued her song.
