Titled “Mutant Giant Spider Dog” the video was viewed by nearly 5 million people the first day it was posted.
Of course, there’s not such thing as a giant spider. It was just Wardega’s small dog dressed up in a spider costume. But at night it looked realistic enough to scare unwitting passersby.
Wardega also set up his prank by adding some props, like himself as a bloody corpse and body parts hanging from what look like a spider’s web.
The prankster hides his dog behind doorways and in an elevator. When an unsuspecting person opens the door, dog Chica scampers out. The dog’s body movement animates the spiders legs.
In dim light, it looked like the real thing to people who were videotaped.
In some of the scenes, Chica excitedly chases the intended victims, obviously eager to play. But that only heightens the panic.
The video is so popular Chica now has a Facebook page.
Wardega is known in Europe for his pranks, which have included aa Spider Man character who lurks in the subway and sprays a “web” at passersby.
