Oddly, Swift grew up in a rural Pennsylvania town with a population of around 10,000. She moved to Nashville at 14 to pursue her music career.
In March, the 24-year-old singer reportedly bought a $19 million apartment in Tribeca, a trendy neighborhood in lower Manhattan adjacent to the Financial District.
“Lord of the Rings” Director Peter Jackson previously owned the place and Orlando Bloom and Steven Soderbergh are her neighbors in the building.
Since then, she’s been spending an increasing amount of time in the city and finding it to her liking.
Swift says jaded New Yorkers are much less inclined to bother her when she’s walking down the street or out with friends. Even the paparazzi are more courteous.
“They don’t provoke me, or ask weird questions,” she tells Rolling Stone magazine. “And a lot of them are long-lensing it, which, if you have to have paparazzi in your life, is such a better way.”
Swift realizes that she’s money to the paps and the tabloid press, so she goes out of her way to maintain her privacy. She assigns all of her projects code names to keep the press guessing.
One of her projects is to convince Selena to move to New York City. It may be another way to separate her from Bieber, whom she thinks is a bad influence on the singer and actress.
Selena is currently back on with her errant boyfriend and was just involved in another embarrassing incident while vacationing with him in Canada.
“I think I can do it,” she says of the effort, which she calls “Project Selena.”
