The house was last listed for sale in 2012 for 24.995 million; the couple paid $18.995 million in 2011, according to Zillow.com, which tracks the real estate market.
Manhattan real estate has been booming this year, with prices up as much as 20 percent depending on the location and type of property. But upper brackets sales have been sluggish.
The 6800-square-foot townhouse on E. 10th Street, is priced at about $3,200 a square foot, which is a hefty premium. The average price in Manhattan is about $1,200 a square foot.
Townhouses would come in at a somewhat higher price, plus the house is 25-feet wide, which is considered very desirable in Manhattan. But the decor may be a drawback.
Surprisingly, the 1846 townhouse has been substantially modernized inside and the decor is contemporary, decidedly stark and minimalistic. The predominant color is a bright white throughout.
Parker’s character, Carrie, in her hit HBO show “Sex and the City” favored the Upper East Side and more traditional decor with old-world character, according to the apartment she picked out with Mr. Big.
Unsurprisingly, the house has a walk-in closet as big as a bedroom. In fact, it may have once been a bedroom. The house also has three floors, so buyers better be comfortable with stairs.
Beyond that, it’s about as good as it gets for a residence in the heart of Manhattan.
The first floor, known has the garden floor, has a terraced garden with access from the spacious living room and space-age kitchen, with top-of-the-line Boffi stainless steel.
The second “Parlor” floor has a double parlor with 12-and-a-half-foot ceilings and a marble fireplace, one of seven in the house. The formal dining room is also on the second floor.
The couple’s children, son James, 11, and twin girls Marion and Tabitha, 5 have their own bedrooms on the three=bedroom Guest floor. The twins’s room has a sitting area, fireplace and marble bath.
The master suite is located on a separate floor with a 25-by-12 foot private terrace. The master bath is palatial, with his and hers sinks, a round hand-carved stone bathtub big enough for two and a walk-in shower with multiple shower heads and a fireplace.
The house is listed by Fredrik Eklund through Douglas Elliman.
He stars on Bravo’s “Million Dollar Listing New York.” So the house may make it onto the television show.
Why Parker and Broderick re-listed the home is unknown. There have been rumors of marital discord, but the couple is still believed to be together.
