Iggy Azalea struggled for years to make it as a rapper, but now that she’s big she’s embroiled in a lawsuit with an ex-boyfriend that reveals details of her sordid past, which includes an alleged sex tape.

Azalea, real name Amethyst Kelly, is attempting to prevent her ex, Maurice Williams, aka rapper Jefe Wine, from selling the sex tape.

But the lawsuit,, filed in federal court in Los Angeles by lawyer Howard E. King, also covers a number of her songs that Williams now wants to release on his own.

The lawsuit also details their relationship, which Azalea now claims was exploitative and misleading from the very beginning.

The 24-year-old Australian rapper scored a major breakthrough this summer with her hit song “Fancy,” and is now one of the biggest emerging acts in music.

But it wasn’t always that way.

She came to the United States when she was 16 and moved to Florida to break into music. From there, she moved to Houston, Texas, in 2008 and met Williams.

At the time, she was 17 and living out of a hotel room, according to court papers. She and Williams, at 33, roughly twice her age, were soon shacking up together.

Williams allegedly presented himself as the successful partner in an oil company that owned undeveloped real estate in the Houston area.

But the suit alleges that the company, National Equities Holdings, Inc., was actually fraudulent and had been fined $3.6 million by the government for operating as a Ponzi scheme.

What’s more, Williams was actually married and had several children. Nonetheless, she continued seeing him and made the alleged sex tape.

Williams had promised to help her with her career. During their relationship, she wrote and recorded several songs on her computer that she never approved for commercial release, court papers state.

Azalea says she eventually broke up with Williams and fled to Atlanta. But the rapper followed her there and persuaded her to move in together.

Once there, Williams revealed that he had “downloaded the entire contents of Azalea’s personal computer, including the Unreleased Masters, onto a jump drive without her consent,” court papers allege.

Williams has also introduced Azalea to Kareem Chapman, who was interested in managing her. As part of the deal, Azalea signed an artist management agreement with him so he could represent her before record companies in New York.

Williams allegedly took her copy and “cut-and-paste[d]” a “Recording Agreement,” that gave him exclusive rights to her recordings and compositions, the suit states. He allegedly lifted her signature from the Chapman agreement.

Williams now apparently plans to move forward with the release of a purported album of her songs title Inizio. The release is slated for Sept. 30.

Azalea says the album is a “bootleg” and seeks a cease and desist order, all profits from any sale of her music and punitive damages.
