Union, 41, revealed in a statement that she called the FBI to complain about the leak of what she called “private keepsakes” meant for her boyfriend, Miami Heat basketball player Dwayne Wade.
Union also cited race and the historic victimization of women as factors in the release of her photos.
I can’t help but to be reminded that since the dawn of time women and children, specifically women of color, have been victimized, and the power over their own bodies taken from them,” she said.
“These atrocities against women and children continue worldwide,” she added.
Union was raped in 1992, at age 19, while she was working a part-time job in a shoe store, according to her official biography. Her attacker, who later turned himself in, was sentenced to 33 years in prison.
By now, the FBI must be setting up a hotline to handle all the calls. More than 100 celebrities supposedly had their accounts hacked and hundreds of photos have been released in two waves. (See a complete list here)
More than a dozen photos of Union appeared online Saturday (Sept. 20). She’s clothed in most of them, but in several she is semi-nude.
Among celebrities whose photos appeared in the latest leak are Amber Heard, Lake Bell, Sarah Hyland, Rihanna, Rachel Nicols, Emily Ratjowski, Kate Bosworth and soccer star Hope Solo.
At least two dozen additional photos of Jennifer Lawrence leaked over the weekend. In most, she was nude or semi-nude. Some poses were comical.
So far photos of 42 celebrities have been the subject of confirmed leaks, according to thefappening.com, which has posted many of the photos.
That suggests many more photos are yet to come.
