Giudice, 42, pronounced the show “fake” in court papers filed as part of her bankruptcy fraud and tax evasion case in federal court in New Jersey.
Teresa and her husband, Giuseppe “Joe” Giudice are scheduled to be sentenced today (Oct 2)on conspiracy and bankruptcy fraud charges in Newark, NJ. Both are facing jail sentences.
But Teresa has made a plea for mercy and is asking the presiding judge to give her a suspended sentence. As part of that plea, she revealed the inner workings of Bravo’s reality show.
She said that her image on “Real Housewives of New Jersey” is actually phony and does not represent her real character.
She begs the judge not to be influenced by her role on the show, and here’s the bombshell reason:
“The image is little more than a carefully crafted fiction, engineered by Bravo TV through scripted lines and clever editing,” she reveals.
Her statement directly contradicts Bravo’s marketing for all of its reality shows based in Orange County, Calif., New York City, Atlanta and Washington, D.C.
It claims the shows are unscripted and reflect the real interactions of its cast members.
Critics have claimed the shows are no more a reflection of reality than regularly scripted programs.
The issue became a factor in the divorce of Kim Kardashian and husband of 72-days Kris Humphries.
Humphries charged in divorce papers that the show was scripted and producers constantly manipulated scenes to create false drama.
He also said Kardashian personally edited her show, “Kourtney and Kim Take New York” to paint him in a bad light. Evidence also surfaced that Kim and momager Kris Jenner staged scenes.
E! Entertainment, which airs the show, denied that it was scripted or manipulated.
At the very least, Giudice’s comments raise questions about false advertising. In any case, she’s determined to take down the show to save her own skin.
