In the latest movie in the Hunger Games series, Katniss is reluctantly pushed to the forefront of a brewing revolution against Panem’s central government.
The new clip was released today (Oct. 15) thanks to fans, who tweeted “#UnlockMockingjay” over and over until it released the preview.
Titled “Return to District 12,” the trailer opens with a shocked Katniss learning the fate of her home district. It’s been destroyed by the Capitol for her actions during the 75th Hunger Games.
Plutarch, played by the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, can be heard speaking ominously in a voiceover. “No one else can do it,” he says. “We need to make this personal for her.”
Plutarch is trying to encourage Katniss to lead the revolution. But another female voice can be heard. “She won’t be able to handle it,” the woman says. “The games destroyed her.”
Katniss boards a flying craft for District 12. When she gets there all she sees is utter devastation. But amid the wreckage she finds a single rose, a gift from President Snow, played by Donald Sutherland.
The movie hits theaters on Nov. 21.
