Twigs, real name Tahliah Barnett, proved it was only a matter of time before she rose to international acclaim, with or without the “Twilight” hunk.
Barnett, 26, has been working as a singer, dancer and performance artist mostly in London. She released her debut album LP1 earlier this year and it landed on UK album charts.
Critics have generally praised it and Twigs has been mentioned as a contender for the coveted 2014 Mercury Prize for the album.
She directs and stars in the two-minute concept film for Google Glass. She dances in a minimalist setting before a wall-length mirror to new arrangements of her songs “Video Girl” and “Glass & Patron.”
Her choreography and athleticism are off the charts by any standard.
“Very proud and excited to share with you a piece I created and directed featuring my friends Benjamin Milan, Dominant and many other incredible performers,” she wrote in an introduction to the piece accompanying the video on YouTube.
She also makes an incredible artistic statement with her makeup and costumes.
Although Twigs has posted other videos of her work, the Google Glass ad is the first that really showcases her talent.
Twigs is currently on tour in Europe and will hit the United States in November.
