The first trailer for the latest “Star Wars” reboot, “The Force Awakens” provides few clues about the new movie’s plot, but can it really be a “Star Wars” epic without Darth Vader? The trailer provides one clue that the master of the dark side may be returning.

Oddly much of the technology is the same in the trailer, even though the film is set 30 years after the last film, “Return of the Jedi.”

You may recall, Vader throws Palpatine down the Death Star’s reactor shaft to his death, fulfilling the prophecy that he would be the one to destroy the Sith and bring balance to the force.

But Vader is mortally wounded in the fight. He asks Luke to take off his mask so he can see his son with his own eyes before dying in Luke’s arms.

As the rebel forces launch their final assault on the Death Star, Luke flees with his father’s body on an Imperial shuttle. Luke returns to Endor and cremates his father’s armor on a funeral pyre, but not his father’s body… leaving an opening for his return.

The clip opens with the first telltale clue. An eerie voice-over, sounding much like Vader’s voices intones: “There’s been an awakening, have you felt it?”

Could that be Vader’s awakening?

The other clue comes near the end of the clip when a shadowy figure in a dark robe is spotted tramping through a forest. His face isn’t revealed, but he’s obviously handy with a new kind of light saber.

The same voice echos, “The Dark Side…” before the screen goes black.

Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill make return appearances along with new cast members led by “Girls” star Adam Driver and Andy Serkis from “Planet of the Apes.”

Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie from “Game of Thrones” and veteran actor Max von Sydow also make up the cast.

Filming wrapped about a month ago, but fans will have to wait until Dec. 18, 2015 to see the movie.
