The general consensus, reported by a slew of Internet “news” sites was that Britney couldn’t look that good.
“Britney Spears looks virtually unrecognizable on the cover of this month’s issue of Women’s Health magazine after an apparent plastic surgery procedure,” claimed SFGate, the online site of the San Francisco Chronicle newspapers.
The story was republished from the San Antonio Express-News, which cited “speculative” reports by the Mirror, a UK tabloid.
Britney has been an easy target for critics because she went through a phase where she gained weight.
But she’s in the best shape of her life thanks to a rigorous workout regimen that includes swimming, yoga, and interval training, she says.
Here’s what she says: “I don’t mind working out. I’m at my best when I’m busy. If I don’t work out, I’m either swimming laps, or I’m doing yoga. I start with 20 minutes of intense cardio – usually running – [and then] move on to light free weights, body-weight exercises such as pushups, squats, and sit- ups, then finish it off with a stretch.”
Spears is also older. She’s 33 and looks more like a woman and less like the teen she was when she scored a breakout in her music career in the 1990s. As a result, her face has changed, and she looks more mature.
In the cover photo, Spears’ facial features were sharpened with contouring make-up, the magazine says. But the body is all her.
Spears has been working regularly through her “The Britney: Piece of Me” concerts at The Axis at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, which also keeps her on her toes.
“Dancing is a great cardio workout. Tough and fun at the same time,” Spears told the magazine.
Check out her photos and the video below. The January/February issue of Women’s Health hits newsstands next Tuesday.
