Heidi Klum semi-naked ads for Sharper Image, the high-end luxury goods retailer, have been banned in Las Vegas for violating an ordinance that prohibits public nudity, even though the ads have appeared in other cities like New York and Los Angeles without a hitch.

The regulation prohibits any “showing of the female breast with less than a fully opaque covering or any portion thereof below the nipple,” according to the statute.

The ordinance came to light after McCarren International Airport, which serves Las Vegas, refused to allow the ads to be displayed.

Klum is naked, but the 41-year-old model strategically covers her private parts with her arms and folded legs. A Sharper Image spokesman called the images “tasteful” and “beautiful” and denied they were “inappropriate.”

“The reaction to it has been fabulous to date and it is running in all forms of media without any issue,” the spokesperson said in a statement.

The advertisement’s slogans, however, are loaded with sexual innuendo, even though the also pertain to the product advertised. One, for example, has the slogan “What does Heidi Klum play with in the bath?” and features a floating am-fm radio in the shape of a rubber duck.

Another showing a topless Klum, arms folded across her chest, declares: “What Does Heidi Klum Like in Bed?” It features a “sound soother.”

Klum has never had a problem posing nude. “[I feel sexiest] when I’m shooting, to be honest—the less I have on,” she told Us Weekly.

“We believe the campaign is tasteful, beautiful and while sexy not inappropriate, in any way. The reaction to it has been fabulous to date and it is running in all forms of media without any issue,” said Chief Marketing Officer, Dari Marder.

In addition to the advertisements, Sharper Image also released behind-the-scenes photos of the shoot.
